"In my area most mums don't understand why I am so different, and critise me for being 'too attached'.  I was about to wean my one year old, but after the talk we had at playgroup, I changed my mind, I am thinking breastfeeding him at least until two. Yesterday he accidentally injured himself, he was bleeding badly and when I took him to the medical centre, he was screaming and wouldn't let the doctor exam him. I put my nipple in his mouth, he calmed down quickly. I was so grateful that I didn't wean him off! Thanks for changing my mind." (Ruby, mother of 1)

Just as our teachers work to make each class a 'learning community', so we strive to make Glenaeon a learning community for parents and friends of the school as well. We are committed to a continuing program of parent education to ensure that:
  • all members of the community are developing through continuing education;
  • parents and teachers are able to build a common picture of our education and the developmental needs of the students;
  • the work of Dr Rudolf Steiner (and others who have contributed to his impulse) is living widely in the school.
Parent Education takes the following forms:
  • class meetings (at least twice a year) where apsects of the curriculum and child development are covered by the Kindergarten and Class Teachers, and High School Guardians;
  • multi-class meetings where issues common to a particular phase of child development are addressed;
  • a regular program of morning talks and workshops at the Castlecrag campus (usually on Thursday mornings and as advertised in the Newsletter) on a range of issues such as child development, education, child health and nutrition;

Coaching, Counselling and Classes helping couples improve their relationship and parenting skills

Research shows that keeping a relationship happy and satisfied, particularly after having a baby (or children) is known to be quite difficult for at least 70% of couples. Most divorces occur within the first 7 years of marriage, and destructive conflict affects a child’s development.

Maggie works with couples to help with;

Stress management and conflict regulation; helping couples to recognise stress warning signs, and the reasons why it is important to manage stress; understanding the ways couples experience conflict and how to convert conflict from destructive to.... constructive communication and greater understanding. ; How to recognise the difference between solvable and perpetual problems and how to resolve them.

Making relationships more loving and resilient; learn the characteristics of a healthy relationship; how kids are impacted positively by their parents’ loving relationship; the 4 reasons why relationships fail; ways to recognise bids for connections; how to ensure longevity of your relationship.

Contact Maggie to discuss your relationship concerns, and organise either counselling in her office or in your home, for your convenience. Or perhaps attend a workshop that Maggie also holds regularly, at affordable prices.

Maggie is a registered nurse working in mental health facilities, teaching skills for healthy emotions, better relationships and stress management.

Maggie has counselled people since 1990 in her capacity as a Natural Health Therapist, Healthy- Emotions Coach, Relationship Counsellor and a certified Relationship Educator.
