Lilly Pilly Jam

Spent the morning picking Lilly Pilly's with the children, early afternoon making Lillly Pilly Jam and after school making and eating scones with jam and cream.  Very easy and the children loved it.

We have a Lilly Pilly on the front lawn.  The cockatoos love to eat the fruit and with simple ingredients you can too!  All you need is Lilly Pilly fruit, lemon juice, sugar and water.

Apple Picking at Bilpin on a lovely Autumn day

1.5 hour drive to Bilpin from the Hills District to take the children apple picking.

Autumn Leaf Rubbings

We took a walk around the local neighbourhood to admire the changing landscape as autumn sets in with the beautiful red, brown and yellow colour changing leaves.

Teh children collected leaves each to take home to do rubbings with autumn colour block bees wax crayons.   The children love to create a huge picture on a big pice of butchers paper- the older children drawing the tree trunk, roots and branches, birds and sunshine.

Brings a warm autumn smile to the children everytime.

 

Making pom-poms!

Remember pom-poms?  This is a wonderful, simple toy that the children can make for themselves.  This chidlren's craft activity turns into wonderous games for days.  We bought some lovely hand died wool and spent a couple of evenings making pom-poms after dinner and while listening to stories in bed.  We tied 'tails' to the middles and they magical turned into 'fire birds', 'glider possums', 'shooting stars' and baby animals (kittens, caterpillas and bunnies).  My 2 year old, 4 year old and 6 year old delighted in both the craft and games, one as much as the other!
